  • Service in the military chaplaincy makes one a better communicator, more loyal to his/her denomination and more flexible in carrying out one's ministry. In a survey using a Likert scale questionnaire plus a fill-in section, 92 chaplains who retired from the Navy from 1980-1985 were questioned concerning their attitude toward denominational assistance at time of retirement, their experiences in making the transition and their feelings about having served in the military. The vast majority were positive toward their choices and confident of their abilities.
