  • This project focuses on how North American individualism breaches the sense of community that Jesus intended for the Lord's Supper. This study defines and discusses individualism at the family meal table and the 'Lord's Table.' I then discuss these findings in the light of the Gospels, First Corinthians 11, and John Calvin's writings to gain theological/historical perspective. Finally, I argue that individualism severely weakens our experience of the Lord's Table and the Church's witness. The study concludes by suggesting correctives to the invasion of individualism upon the Lord's Table so that we might strengthen the Church's witness to the world.
