  • This Doctor of Ministry thesis was undertaken to determine the usefulness of spiritual discernment in the decision-making of a congregational polity Christian community. The project employed experiential opportunities for corporate discernment utilizing Ignatian and Quaker traditions seen through a biblical context. The prime arenas for introducing the discernment was in corporate meeting structures and during retreats with the church's executive council. The author finds challenges prevalent, but strong outcome-based evidence to support the continuation of its inclusion in the individual and corporate life of the congregation.
