  • Forgiveness and the resultant new life are germane to Christianity. Programs, liturgical formulations or teaching cannot replace that role that each Christian has to hear another's burden and to assure him of God's grace. This paper reviews the theology of forgiveness and especially the role of the human mediator of forgiveness. A contrast is made between current systems of counseling and Christian forgiveness. The conclusion is that God uses common people of faith to aid in releasing people from past mistakes and move productively into the future.
