  • Holy Communion was considered the birthright of all baptized until 1215 AD. This study looks at the historical developments that led to the loss of participation in the Eucharist by infants and young children. The paper also contains chapters on sacramental theology, biblical references, and ecumenical considerations. Also included is a six-part adult study of the issue for congregations. There is a six-part bibliography and appendixes of Communion practices in the ALC and LCA, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada Statement on Sacramental Practices, and the 1985 International Anglican Consultation.
