Abstrakt

This project proposes a model for discipleship training in urban churches, testing its effectiveness with 12 members--eight men and four women--in Merrill Avenue Baptist Church (Chicago, Ill). In 24 sessions these participants engage learning experiences framed by Scripture, a discipleship manual, and a Character/Skills Assessment Test, all designed to stimulate spiritual growth, to renew the influence of the church as a societal change agent, and to enhance spiritual leadership ability. This discipleship training motivates church members to serve church and community with renewed interest and commitment.
