Abstrakt

This project focuses on the funeral director's pastoral care role. It sees funeral directing as a form of ministry which complements rather than competes with traditional ministry. It suggests that a common theological dimension should inform both the pastor and the funeral director to permit a holistic response to the needs of the bereaved. The project presents funeral directing case studies and uses a process theology model to relate problems to care giver responses. It illuminates the need in funeral ministry for awareness of God's active presence and participation.
