  • This thesis-project asks: What is conducive to the spiritual and psychological development of priesthood candidates in their middle adult years and what might need to be changed or adapted to improve their formation program. The Whitehead model (Method in Ministry 1995) is used. Chapter one presents a brief history of seminary formation and selected current ecclesial documents. Chapter two focuses on mid-life and faith development theories. Chapter three contains student and alumni survey data. Chapter four brings the components into dialogue. The study concludes that changes and adaptations are needed and offers recommendations for praxis in chapter five.
