- The author interviewed and surveyed lay and ordered leaders of rural and small town churches to study their attitudes about the nature, role and character of their church. He concluded that congregational regeneration requires a shift in attitude that intentionally gives primacy to the apostolic root of Christendom, rather than its evolved traditions and expressions. Intentionally giving precedence to Christ and his ministry is a mandatory antecedent to congregational regeneration. Commitment to Christ and his ministry subsequently allows congregational leaders to use effectively the accumulated wisdom of the church health and church growth literature.
