  • This paper demonstrates the utilization of Bowen family systems theory in its application to, and value for, an illustrated problem of a dysfunctional small church, in pastoral care, from a biblical and theological perspective on God's purpose for families. After looking objectively at the strengths and weaknesses of the techniques and strategies the author determined that some progress was achieved toward healthier functioning through teaching and guiding in biblical and theological study, and reaffirmation, definition and clarification of emotional and psychological differentiation as members of God's family to achieve a sense of unity and harmony.
