Abstrakt

This thesis project argues that one of the most demanding experiences in pastoral ministry is the task of coping with a difficult person. While many of the existing models of intervention are useful and worthwhile, this thesis will suggest that certain key ingredients are sometimes avoided or neglected in an attempt to move quickly toward a satisfactory resolution of a problem. Effective problem solving, especially when dealing with a difficult person, cannot always be reduced to a simple step-by-step approach. The purpose of this thesis will be to explore and present another option for dealing with the presence of a difficult person that is both biblical and practical. These guidelines and principles have been taken from a number of biblical passages, and applied to a variety of concerns that face the pastor/leader on a daily basis in the pastoral ministry.
