Churches experiencing growth are strengthened by shared leadirship, where leaders lead the church with vision and passion, value the contributions of all members and help bring forth the gifts and leadership qualities of others. Interventions focused on an immediate need to share leadership more broadly in the church to avoid burning out leaders. Interventions included restructuring, spiritual gifts inventories, classes, and mentoring. Tha author discovered that sharing the work was not as effective for cultivating a model of shared leadership as was working with current leaders to draw forth their leadership skills and helping them become transforming leaders.
