Abstrakt

Pastors need regular contact with all the families of their congregations, yet every-member pastoral visitation in homes is not feasible for many ministers. The study reviews literature from biblical times to the present on the purpose, theological and biblical bases, practice, and methods of pastoral visitation. Disciples' theology on pastoral visitation was reviewed, and a survey of Disciples ministers in Kansas was made. A strategy for pastoral visitation in the pastors' studies was developed in notebook form and field-tested. The strategy seemed to enable ministers to have significant contact with families in their congregations.
