Abstrakt

An eight-week discipleship training program was used in two local churches that employed structured participation in five classical forms of following Jesus Christ. These included Bible study, covenant group commitment, spiritual discipline, liturgy and ethical reflection. These forms were focused on grace and themselves constituted means of grace. By examining closely where they have fallen into cheap grace and where they are called to receive and embody God's costly grace, participants significantly enhanced their understanding of God's grace in their lives. Such learning generated new insights into how they can be authentic disciples of Christ in today's world.
