  • The project is an affective-cognitive model for training lay leadership in a process of conflict management. Conflict is conceptualized as a process moving toward actualization of social entities when the conflict is properly managed and toward disintegration when the conflict is poorly managed or unmanaged. This conceptualization is developed theologically, biblically, historically, and sociologically. The conclusions drawn are: 1) conflict is inevitable; 2) a systematic process is the best way to deal with conflict; 3) a mangement process can produce productive results from conflict; 4) lay people can be taught this process; and 5) resolving conflict can move individuals-institutions toward actualization.
