Abstrait

This project investigates the exposition of Ecclesiastes 2:1-11 as a means of teaching that satisfaction can only be found in God. Chapter 1 outlines the purpose, goals, context, rationale, and research methodology for the project. Chapter 2 provides the theological and exegetical basis for using the Book of Ecclesiastes as pedagogy. Salient issues related to the purpose and meaning of Ecclesiastes are discussed with special attention directed to the project's curriculum, Ecclesiastes 2:1-11. A justification for Solomonic authorship is presented as well. Chapter 3 explores expository preaching in the context of postmodernism. This chapter defines 'postmodernism' and traces the development of hermeneutics as the foundation of postmodern thought. It also examines the rationale for employing expository preaching as both antithesis and antidote for postmodernity. Chapters 4 and 5 present the specific elements of the ministry project. Organization of test groups is described and pre-test/post-test questionnaire methodology is detailed. Effectiveness of the project's sermon series is evaluated based on the analyzed data.
