Abstrakt

Folk religions allow for the practice of magic and divination which are incompatible with true faith in, worship of, and allegiance to Yahweh. The project: defines magic and divination; discusses the biblical attitude toward magic and divination; discusses the worldview of magic and divination; and, discusses the magic, divination and folk religions in animism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Shintoism. The study is valuable for students of missions so that they might better minister to and communicate the gospel to folk religionists.
