  • This project deals with a course developed and taught for the Lay Pastoral Ministry Program of the Athenaeum of Ohio. The course, entitled, 'Women and Jesus, Women and Paul,' is an attempt, using the historical-critical method of biblical scholarship, to trace the growth of misogynism, both biblical and societal, from its origin in Greek philosophy, to its culmination in the pastoral epistles. In the process, the example and teachings of Jesus are studied, as well as the writings of the Pauline corpus, both authentic and pseudo. The content of the research is extensively detailed, and the method of instruction outlined and discussed. The process is an attempt to minister through the teaching of both men and women in their search for biblical truth as it relates to male/female sexual roles in church and society.
