Abstrakt

This project studies the historical, cultural, social, economic, linguistic and intellectual roots of the problems which inhibit the self-actualization of the Spanish minority in Anglo society. It gathers material from interviews conducted in Spanish communities along the eastern seaboard, especially in the Spanish church setting of Manchester, New Hampshire. Maslowian theory concerning human motivation, conflict between birth-culture ties and a competitive society and the scarcity of bi-lingual, cross-cultural programs shaped the author's philosophy of pastoral care. The goal of the care is to guide this group to spiritual, emotional and physical health.
