- While the problem of second-generation ministry within the Chinese immigrant church in America is well-documented, most of the research up to this point has focused on cultural land leadership differences between Overseas Born Chinese (OBC) and American Born Chinese (ABC), which set off and exacerbate the conflict between the two sides. This thesis will introduce a new paradigm for understanding the issue by incorporating the dimensions of demographics and church organizational development. These factors determine in part the potential range of English Ministry development in the Chinese immigrant church. Solutions to mitigate tensions are based on the concept of formulating appropriate expectations that are specific to the church's developmental stage. Specific tools for self- and church-evaluation are proposed.
