- John Wesley's doctrine of sanctification has an enduring relevance for twentieth-century Christianity. His view of this overall spiritual process incorporates elements of both particular crises and processes and is 'systemic' in nature, involving cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions of human experience. This project of ten weekly two-hour small group learning experiences employed pretest and both immediate and delayed posttest evaluations of participants' understanding. While not statistically confirmed because of the limited number of participants, the findings point clearly to laypersons' ability to grasp comprehensively sanctification's meaning. This dissertation also details specific pitfalls to avoid in communicating this significant biblical doctrine.
