- The challenge of this thesis project was to equip the lay-leaders and congregation of Antioch Baptist Church for service to the local church, immediate and wider community and motivate them to action in an endeavor to become change agents for Christ, through intentional preaching strategies derived from hermeneutical and homilectical principles. The preaching acts resulted in positive change in the actions and thought patterns of both the lay-leaders and congregants. The hermeneutical and homiletical tools gave the voice and vision for understanding both the biblical and life text as interdependent allies. The study sought particularly to understand how the use of the disciplines of theology, sociology and psychology can help to impact the lay-leader and congregant as change agents for Christ.
