- The purpose of this research was to discern the effects of reparenting through intense counseling as results may appear on Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory data on profiles. To do this, three self-select groups (well-parented, dysfunctionally parented and reparented respondents) were all given a combination 'questionnaire-interview' (based primarily on the thinking of Kohut, Winnicott and Langs) and the MMPI. Results were sought on seven specific MMPI scales. Although the research hypotheses were not proved using these seven scales, several unhypothesized findings were worthwhile: there were correlations between the self-select group and overall health through general impressions of the whole of MMPI profiles looking at all the scales together. Also, there were two statistical correlations between self report (as to quality of parenting) and two MMPI scales, depression and psychasthenia, depicting that persons well-parented or reparented are somewhat healthier emotionally.
