Abstrakt

Clergyperson engages two congregations with similar resources: discovers that their cultures are very different. Culture reflects human reputation and resources: central among them is 'readiness for resurrection.' Paper examines two congregations and James Evans' ideas explore how honesty and ethics may lead to liberation or, in Malow's terms, life grounded in 'being' pursuits, guided by leadership. 'Readiness' is from Tillich: when part of our culture, we reflect trust and hope about 'God's new thing.' Leaders must look past resources and inspire cultural change, pursuing of God's way. Leaders must read culture and be ready to move in new ways.
