  • This project proposes that an incarnational understanding of spirituality will liberate spirituality from the notion that it implies otherworldly, flawless eccentricity and it will produce a liberating spirituality that will discover and affirm voices of simple, ordinary people. Drawing on the works of Francis of Assisi, Teresa of Avila, and Ignatius of Loyola, as well as on focus groups, personal interviews, questionnaires, and retreats, the project suggests an approach to retreat ministry that uses more questions than formal lectures, combining a variety of processes and methods as a model for an incarnational ministry of spiritual guidance.
