  • The church finds strength, unity, and purpose in table fellowship. The repeatable sacrament of holy communion enlivens and renews the body in order for it to move outward into the world for and in the name of Jesus Christ. This study reviews the nature of faith symbols and seeks their centering within the liturgical life of the church by recovering the sacramental vision offered by a new hymnal emphasizing liturgical, eucharistic worship. The study challenges the church in the post-Christian era to recover understanding of the symbols of the faith, so that the eucharist may return as the central act of community.
