Abstrakt

This project evaluates the effectiveness of a year-long Pastoral Internship Program offered from 1982 to 1991 at The Blue Church in Springfield, Pennsylvania, in order to enhance that program for future application. The project includes a literature search on the subject of 'mentoring', a survey of pastoral internship opportunities offered by a representative group of evangelical seminaries and graduate schools of theology, a comparative analysis of three local church internship programs similar to the effort at Blue Church, and detailed appraisals of the six internships already served at Blue Church, carried out by means of personal interviews with each former intern. A proposal for an enhanced internship program, incorporating the modifications indicated, closes the study.
