  • First-generation Korean Christian women in America suffer shame, feelings of inferiority or inadequacy, caused by oppressive culture, androcentric teachings of the Korean church, and barriers of language and culture in America. Their self-understandings, their attitudes, and their relationship with others are greatly affected by shame. Liberation from shame can start with naming the shame they have, realizing who God says they are, confronting their shame, and experiencing God's love and acceptance.
