  • This project seeks to determine if an asymmetrical church merger can be successful even when the merging churches have very similar backgrounds. The ministers active in the Evangelical United Brethren Church prior to merger still feel much resentment and frustration fourteen years after the 1968 merger with the Methodist Church. After tracing the history of the two churches involved and the story of their merger, the author analyzes a sociological questionnaire which explores morale factors of the former Evangelical United Brethren pastors and offers suggestions for making this merger (and future mergers) more effective.
