Abstrakt

This study provides insight into the practice of preaching as soul care. The thesis is that quality soul care or pastoral care can be provided through sound, biblical preaching. A series of eight sermons on the Beatitudes was offered to the members of Asbury United Methodist Church, Tulsa, Oklahoma. A researcher designed survey was used to measure listener response to each sermon. A key element in the study was the impact of preaching style upon listeners.
