Abstrakt

The desire of this project was to learn principles and develop an approach to engaging a congregation towards intergenerational outreach ministry to the postmodern generation. Since hip-hop culture with its music core values are consistent with postmodern generational values, it was deemed useful as a model to identify some key principles and methods for outreach ministry. This project began with one month of leadership training workshops to prepare the church for this ministry. Following this were two months of bi-weekly hip-hop worship services and hip-hop outing to various hip-hop events. These were designed to provide an opportunity to develop survey information and accountability tools to measure the effectiveness of an intergenerational approach to reaching the postmodern hip-hop subculture.
