  • Evangelism in the postmodern context must move away from modernist methodology, epistemology and theology. The author examines the major cultural and philosophical themes of postmodernism through the lens of popular music. Two common evangelical responses to postmodernism are appraised. A defense of evangelism is offered, based on Christian realism and the ontologically unique claims of Christ. Lesslie Newbigin's model of contextually-appropriate mission, as the encounter between Gospel, culture and church, is commended as an alternative to non-foundational pluralism. The author concludes with ten guidelines for relational, community-based narrative evangelism.
