  • This project proposes that preaching that is invitational in formation, language, and presentation invites postmodern hearers to be transformed by the gospel. Preaching that is hierarchical, filled with imperatives, and lacking in dialogue no longer communicates in the changing context of the postmodern world. Preaching can be invitational through collaborative formation of sermons, through language that is intentionally invitational, and through presentation that is invitational in style. Through proclamation by invitation individuals become conversation partners in sermons, and may also experience a yearning for transformation.
