Abstrakt

The role of Elder in a local church is a high and holy calling and a challenging and demanding one. It can be difficult for a layman to fill the role with confidence and joy. This project was designed to develop and orientation process that is both meaningful and manageable in a layman's life. The research included a survey of pastors in similar churches, a survey of participants before and after the retreat, and a study of literature on church leadership development. The author developed a pre-retreat workbook and planned and led a weekend orientation retreat.
