  • This project tests how the use of three listening variations, while listening to sermons, influence information gain, attitude change, and concept modification. The sermon situation is defined as a spirit-intensive encounter between preacher and congregation, based on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit, as found in a Wesleyan Holiness denomination. The results lend support to the main hypothesis that listening aids do help, especially taking notes on a simple formatted outline; but results were generally inconclusive concerning the minor hypothesis which suggests the need for more research.
