Abstrakt

The 'Anchorhold Workbook in Meditative Prayer' presents a model for teaching-learning meditative prayer in local Christian congregations. It draws on components of Wesleyan spirituality (meditation on scripture and the class meeting) and the contemporary disciplines of sociology (relaxation techniques and bi-modal consciousness), psychology (Jungian personality types) and education (individual-small group learning dynamics). A key feature of the Workbook is 'The Anchorhold Personality Temperament Indicator' which leads persons to learn meditation according to their personality temperament. The Workbook includes an analysis as to why persons in the 1980's are hungry for the ministry it offers.
