Abstrakt

The purpose of this project was to create a resource on international adoption to prepare families in local congregations pursuing intercountry adoption for the pre-adoptive and post-adoptive stages. The resource was designed to provide families with an extended case study of the international adoption process. The most prominent finding was Goal #5: Institutional Living. Parents of internationally adopted children find themselves at a loss to comfort, develop, and discipline boys and girls who grew up in orphanages. This concern is central to understanding the physical and emotional behavior exhibited by former orphans.
