Abstrakt

The project reviews, in critical theological perspective, funeral practices and the dynamic at work behind them in the Australian context, and designs a handbook for pastors. Methodology included reviewing relevant literature, forwarding a questionnaire to all clergy in one area of Australia and interviewing some respondents. The two sections of the resultant handbook cover: 1) the dynamics of grief and ministry in light of these dynamics and 2) resource material for funerals. A report details feedback from field testing and lists ten implications for ministry with bereaved persons.
