- The author's purpose for this study was to determine what effective preaching is and how preaching effectiveness can be improved. The process of the study included interviews with denominational executives, a study of 2 Timothy 3 and 4, and two surveys of the effectiveness of the pastors in the Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Church. A general prescription for improving preaching effectiveness and personal prescriptions for improving preaching effectivness were given between the two surveys. The final chapter gives recommendations for how denominations, schools of ministry and churches can help improve the effectiveness of the local church pastor's preaching.
