Abstrakt

Concern over the rate of suicide within the Indiana Army National Guard was addressed from the author's position as State Area Command Chaplain. Statistical studies revealed that the suicide rate, for the past five years, has been 2.8 times the state average. A program module was designed to raise the level of awareness, of the danger signs of suicide, in those serving in positions of leadership in the Indiana National Guard. The research includes a study of the context of ministry, psycho-social and biblical-theological aspects of suicide. The module proved successful in increasing the level of awareness as determined by pre-/post-test analysis.
