Abstrakt

As Western Christendom rapidly changes, questions of why and what can be done about these changes are being asked by many denominations and scholars. The author explored the background of the sweeping changes that the Church faces in the twenty-first century, visited congregations of various sizes and locations to investigate how the average parishioner understands discipleship, and undertook the work of developing a parish covenant as a way of strengthening community and forming disciples for the work of mission. Parish surveys, semi-structured interviews and statistical analysis were employed. The theology of the Church, Communion and Covenant were explored.
