  • This thesis paper has been developed to answer the question, 'Why is a trained interventionist (interim pastor) a timely model for church leadership?' The author follows the movement of the church through time to its current liminal marginalized position within a postmodern culture. From this position, churches need to become complex adaptive organizations able to function and thrive in 'chaos' so that they can transition to a postmodern environment. The author finds that a trained interim consultant has the necessary leadership skill set to help today's struggling congregations make this necessary and vital transition.
