  • Non-hierarchical, mutual ministry--partnership--is offered as a model for pastoral leaders and the church as a way to deconstruct and resist hierarchy and promote new spiritual community. This model is based on a feminist/liberationist interpretation of the life and ministry of Jesus as recorded in the Gospels. It incorporates the learning of 'new science' and values interconnectedness over individualism. The experience of pastoral leaders and their congregations is illustrative of how the model works, with many examples and experiences offered which show the benefits and the struggles of this type of ministry.
