  • The purpose of this project was to develop a model for promoting spiritual revival within the local church utilizing the means available through the exercise of spiritual discipline and promotion of community and Christian nurture through participation in Wesleyan style class meetings. The project was designed to test the thesis that the church can experience revival whenever the members are willing to employ these means which God has provided. The project was implemented at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church, Dallas, TX, over the course of a ten-week period. The project consisted of four primary phases which included: 1) a workshop on spiritual discipline, evangelism and faith-sharing; 2) six weeks of weekly class meetings; 3) church-wide days of consecration; and 4) revival worship services. The findings of the study support the thesis that revival can be promoted through use of the aforementioned means. A majority of the participants reported that they had experienced spiritual revival through observance of spiritual discipline and participation in small group meetings.
