  • This project was designed to investigate via a phenomenological study the experience of anxiety as it occurs for women in relation to issues of differentiation. The project also explores the religious, spiritual, and other resources utilized to deal with anxiety. The findings support the basic premise of the thesis that 'the primary source of anxiety for the `modern' woman is related to the on-going challenge and demands of differentiation with its concomitant issues of differentiation with its concomitant issues of separation and loss, the need for new definitions of self, and change in the relationships with ourselves and others.'.
