  • Abstract has title: Attitude and practice of pastoral effectiveness in the Cookeville district of the Tennessee Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church: key things a pastor must learn to be and do
Abstrakt
  • The author's dissertation defined pastoral effectiveness in white middle and upper middle class congregations of the Cookeville District (Tennessee) of the United Methodist Church using interviews and survey questions. The results were as follows: since pastoral effectiveness is something that only God can produce, pastors must rely upon the Holy Spirit in their ministries. Pastoral efectiveness flows from the daily personal relationship pastors have with Christ and must be continually measured against God's word. Pastoral effectiveness enables others to understand and live out God's agenda in their lives, and is further enhanced when pastors seek to glorify God.
