  • A number of parishes in the Melkite-Greek Catholic Eparchy in this country are accommodating an influx of people from non-Melkite backgrounds. Because it is such a pronounced minority, the Melkite Church must simultaneously protect and share what is distinctively its own with these newcomers. To this end, the didaskomenate--a period of instruction and religious socialization, like the catechumenate, but for those already baptized--was developed and implemented in this project. Part I is an examination of pertinent ecclesiological, catechetical, and canonical issues; part II is a transcription of the fourteen sessions of the program; and part III is an evaluation.
