Abstrakt

The project examines possible theological relationships between values clarification (VC) principles and contemporary church education efforts. A renewed Christian humanism, which effectively responds to the criticisms of VC by providing an ethical theory of neighbor-centered love, is presented as the necessary linkeage for dealing with VC as a theological enterprise. Incorporation of insights from process metaphysics, moral/faith development studies and a continuing concern for Christian norms are discussed as appropriate and essential components in a values-centered theology. Employing a praxis method and model of theological reflection, VC is affirmed as a vital tool which can be effectively adapted for church education tasks.
