  • Religious pluralism is increasing, yet little research has been done on the theological consequences of ministering in an environment of religious pluralism. This project/thesis tested the hypothesis that ministering in an environment of religious pluralism causes the minister's theology to become more inclusive. Four theological models for understanding religious pluralism were developed. The models were then used with both a reflection group and a survey to test the hypothesis in the context of the Navy Chaplain Corps. The data suggests that the hypothesis is often true. Implications from the research for the Navy chaplaincy and civilian ministry are identified.
