  • This study sought to identify the values and factors that resulted in the decision of the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth to separate from the Episcopal Church, USA. A questionnaire was submitted to the leadership of the diocese, consisting of the Bishop, Canon to the Ordinary, and the members of the Standing Committee. Women's ordination to the priesthood and acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle, together with threats to make the diocese conform, were the most crucial factors. Fort Worth perceived its Christian and Anglo-Catholic identity threatened, and therefore chose to leave the Episcopal Church, USA.
